n Neda, the church of Santa Maria and the Gothic church of San Nicolás are of particular interest. Once past the church of Santa María, a beautiful footbridge crosses the river Belelle and links up with the old, porticoed Calle Real where, in the middle of it, the Clock Tower stands out, next to the Town Hall and the remains of the old Pilgrim's Hospital of "Sancti Spiritus".
Camino Inglés through hostels
Continuing straight ahead we visit the church of San Nicolás, where we can admire one of the oldest stone crosses in Galicia. A quiet stage with only a climb worthy of the name at the exit of Neda, where we will be able to admire some magnificent views of the "Ría de Ferrol". From this point we can be aware of what we are already walking, as it divides much of the journey made.
After passing a washing place and a fountain, we will go to the municipality of Fene. After a short walk we arrive at the town centre where we will have all kinds of services for the pilgrims. Then we will find the Mundín washhouse and after this we have to go up a dirt road, approaching the municipality of Cabanas, after we have crossed the Vilar do Colo industrial estate.
Going down to the town centre of Cabanas, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mouth of the river Eume, where a few kilometres upstream forms the "Fragas do Eume" Natural Park. From that point, if you look at the mountain, the figure of the "Castelo de Nogueirosa" rises.
Now we only have to cross the bridge over the river Eume... You can imagine, there are only 15 boats nowadays, but in the past there used to be 70!
Once in Pontedume, the entire historical centre is a collection of monuments, from the tower of Andrade, which was part of the palace that this powerful family had there, to the church of Santiago, to the building that houses the Town Hall, the library and the convent of the Augustinians.
