  For more than eight hundred years, pilgrims have been coming from Northern Europe to the tomb of the Apostle St. James. Most came from Britain and Ireland, but there were also many from what are now the Nordic countries, the Baltics, Finland, Iceland, part of Germany and the Netherlands.
