SLOW Camino Inglés

Walk the Camino Inglés in shorter stages. The important thing is to enjoy every kilometre of the Camino - at your own pace.

We propose a quiet way to walk: the SLOW Camino Inglés. Slowly completing each stage of the Camino, enjoying more of the environment and the villages in its path at each stage. The pilgrim can shorten the distance each day, doing an average of 12 or 15 km per stage. This will give you the opportunity to get to know all the cultural and natural heritage and the people of the place – even better... You choose!

This option enables the pilgrim to further connect spiritually with the journey, allowing him/her to fully appreciate the spectacular spots en route - visiting monuments that otherwise would be missed. In the summer, they might even enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea or a river through which the Camino Inglés passes… All without losing sight of the main objective which is the arrival at the Cathedral of Santiago.

Departing from Ferrol, pilgrims will head to Neda in the first stage and from there continue to Pontedeume in the second. One of the novelties of the SLOW Camino Inglés comes on the third day as the destination of this stage is the beautiful town of Miño, where the pilgrim can enjoy exploring its surroundings. The next stage leads to Betanzos, Ciudad de los Caballeros (City of Knights), one of the most historic towns in Galicia.

Concello de Ferrol Concello de Neda Concello de Pontedeume Concello de Miño Concello de Betanzos Concello de Abegondo Concello de Mesía Concello de Ordes Concello de Oroso Concello de Santiago de Compostela Concello de A Coruña Concello de Carral

Once we leave Betanzos, the next point on the Camino Inglés is Presedo in Abegondo. The pilgrim will be immersed in the Galician countryside, surrounded by rivers and spectacular scenery. From Abegondo the route takes us to Bruma along a short stretch of just 10 km, ideal to regain strength.

The last 40 kilometres of the English Way will be shared with pilgrims travelling from A Coruña, as from Bruma the route to Santiago is the same.

If starting from the Ciudad de Cristal (A Coruña), we must prepare for a first stage of 20km ending in Sergude, where you can rest in the pilgrims’ hostel. The next day, a long climb awaits you, (known as A Costa do Peito) before finishing up in Bruma.

Leaving Bruma the route of the SLOW Camino Inglés takes us to the town of Poulo in Ordes, where we will see its "cruceiros" (stone crosses) and the hostel for pilgrims that has been recently inaugurated.

The penultimate stage welcomes us in Sigüeiro, where we will regain strength, ready to face the last leg of our journey to the amazing Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

From Ferrol

This first stage goes through the city of Ferrol, from the port to Neda. Along 15,4 km you will be able to enjoy the architecture and the parks of this city.

Churches, sea, nature... this stage covers 12,9 km and starts next to the Ferrol estuary delving deep into the natural beauty of the area before reaching the town of Pontedeume…

From Calle Real we will travel a distance of 9,2 km walking near the coast, passing the Andrade castle, the Baxoi bridge and the mouth of the river Lambre.

This stage consists of a little over 10 km in which we will walk from the train station of this coastal town until we reach the door of the Old Bridge of Betanzos.

The next stage of 13,5 km is quite demanding as it is a winding route with many slopes and undulations, so it is not a bad idea to do the SLOW Camino Inglés to make it more bearable.

In Abegondo we will commence a new stage ending in Bruma. Whilst quite an uneven route, it has much shorter than the previous stage.

If the previous stage had been characterised by ascents and slopes requiring greater effort on behalf of the pilgrims, this section gradually descends for 12 km until reaching Poulo in the municipality of Ordes.

The penultimate stage of the SLOW Camino Inglés consists of a 12 km walk from Poulo in the municipality of Ordes, before arriving in Sigüeiro, a lovely town of the municipality of Oroso.

The 16,5 km of the last stage of the Camino make for stunning natural landscapes with the river Tambre and the Enchanted Forest.

From A Coruña

Starting from the ‘City of Hercules’, this first stage takes an urban path for part of the 20 km that make up the route.

13 km stage that is physically very demanding because of the long climb, but at the same time very rewarding because of the landscape.
